A Cambodian registered organisation
assisted by Friends

Event
HAGAR began operations
in Cambodia in 1994, in response to the needs of destitute
women and children living on the streets of Phnom Penh.
Initially they provided emergency shelter and trauma
counselling services. This assistance was later extended
to include vocational skills training and women’s
development training. Associated small business projects
(such as HAGAR Design, HAGAR Soya and HAGAR Catering)
were subsequently developed to provide meaningful employment
for women and young girls graduating from HAGAR programs.
HAGAR is registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
under the auspices of a Swiss-based charity ABBA.
HAGAR have become increasingly involved in the facilitation
of services for severely disabled children and now manage
The House of Smiles group home project, an original initiative
of personnel associated with Friends of interPART. The
two organisations are still closely affiliated and in
acknowledgment of continued support, proceeds from the
CyCleCambodia event have recently assisted in the purchase
of a mini-bus. This will enable the children to attend
schools, to seek medical treatment and rehabilitation,
as well as to participate in social and cultural activities
and various sporting pursuits.
